Passionate about art in all its ways
Mustapha Maigah, from Tamale in northern Ghana, has been passionate about celebrating culture and community since 2002, when he was in Junior High School. During those early years, he actively participated in a variety of school clubs, including the YARO Club, Drama Club, and Culture Dance Club, while also playing volleyball. These experiences sparked a lifelong love for cultural expression and set the foundation for his future work.
His journey continued at the Tamale Center for National Culture, where he fully immersed himself in performance arts. Over the years, Mustapha has had the privilege of hosting shows, engaging with audiences both on and off stage, and collaborating with other performers to create multicultural performances that showcase diverse traditions. He has worked closely with leaders to ensure that every performance met its highest artistic standards and promoted shows through social media and community engagement, helping to build excitement and connection. Mustapha has also brought characters to life through costumes, providing audiences with unforgettable experiences, and developed his singing and dancing skills through dedicated practice with talented coaches. His work has included setting up props and equipment for live performances at festivals, community centers, and special events.
In addition to his performance work, Mustapha has organized workshops where he taught dance, drumming, and the art of making musical instruments from recycled materials. He has shared his knowledge with students, inspiring the next generation of artists and performers. Now, as part of the ZOOBU YILI FOUNDATION LBG, Mustapha is using his experiences to make a positive impact not only in his local community in Tamale but also around the world. Through his work in performance and cultural education, he strives to preserve traditions, bring people together, and create a space where art can truly make a difference.
