Zoobu Yili is a community-based organization founded in early 2025 by Anske Ruyters (Belgium), Sumaila Adam (Ghana), and Mustapha Maigah (Ghana). United by a passion for cultural preservation and a deep concern over the erosion of Ghanaian traditions, we came together to create a foundation that addresses the growing challenges faced by our community.
As stereotypes and modern influences take hold, many young people are becoming disconnected from their cultural roots — leading to a decline in social well-being and a rise in destructive behaviors. At the same time, limited access to education and opportunities for talent development has forced many children into child labor, restricting their potential and hope for a brighter future.
At Zoobu Yili, we believe that cultural connection is a powerful path to healing, empowerment, and growth. By fostering understanding across diverse backgrounds and celebrating the richness of tradition, we aim to inspire mutual respect and broaden perspectives — both within Ghana and beyond
Our mission is to inspire and empower individuals by preserving and sharing the rich traditions of Ghanaian culture — through drumming, dancing, singing, and storytelling. By offering accessible education, we aim to nurture cultural pride, while also supporting mental and emotional well-being.
We strive to create inclusive spaces where individuals can come together, connect, and heal through art and expression. Through mentorship and creative programs, we help youth build self-confidence, resilience, and emotional awareness, empowering them to overcome challenges and create a positive, impactful future for themselves.
Our mission is to foster a community of mutual respect, cultural exchange, and personal transformation — where every participant has the opportunity to thrive, grow, and be part of a larger global community
At Zoobu Yili Foundation, we envision a world where every young person, rooted in their rich cultural heritage, is empowered to flourish — not only in their talents but in their hearts and minds. We believe that true growth comes from a place of emotional and mental well-being, where each individual feels seen, supported, and valued.
In a world where many young people are lost in the noise of external influences, we aim to restore a sense of belonging, purpose, and pride through the preservation of culture. We believe that by reconnecting with their roots, young people can build strength, resilience, and confidence, enabling them to rise above the challenges they face.
Through mentorship, education, and creative opportunities, we provide a safe space for children and young adults to nurture their talents, embrace their identity, and heal from emotional struggles. By focusing on the whole person — mind, body, and spirit — we help them break free from cycles of pain, substance abuse, and disconnection, offering a path toward a brighter, healthier future.
Our vision is to build a community where culture, education, and mental well-being come together to nurture the next generation — a generation that celebrates diversity, builds bridges of understanding, and grows stronger through mutual respect and care.
We honor and cherish Ghanaian cultural traditions, ensuring they are passed down to future generations. By preserving practices like drumming, dancing, and singing, we foster pride and a strong sense of identity within the community.
We believe in the power of community. By empowering individuals through education and the arts, we strengthen society, reduce challenges like substance abuse, and help break the cycle of child labor.
Every individual deserves to be valued and heard. We create spaces where people from all backgrounds can come together, share experiences, and grow in mutual respect and understanding.
We are committed to providing opportunities for emotional and mental well-being, self-awareness, and personal growth, helping individuals unlock their full potential and contribute positively to society.
Education is the key to growth. We strive to make learning opportunities accessible to all, particularly those who may not otherwise have access, fostering cultural awareness and personal development.
We embrace the power of cross-cultural exchange, fostering global connections that promote mutual learning, respect, and understanding across cultural boundaries.
We build emotional and psychological resilience through cultural engagement and education, helping individuals face life’s challenges with strength and adaptability
While we honor tradition, we also celebrate the creativity that arises from it. We believe in evolving cultural expressions, allowing for new forms of artistic and emotional growth.
We inspire hope in the youth and community, providing opportunities to escape negative influences and build brighter futures. Hope drives transformation and empowers individuals to change their lives and environments.
We are committed to creating lasting change. Through sustainable programs and initiatives, we ensure that the impact of our work continues to benefit future generations.
